
Mallards Harrison Named IHL Player Of The Week

MOLINE, Ill. (November 9, 2009) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that Mallards right wing Terry Harrison has been named IHL Player of the Week.
Harrison, 31, piled up six points (three goals, three assists) in three games last week while also posting a plus/minus rating of +3. The Winnipeg native scored one goal and picked up one assist in each of those three contests. Harrison scored the opening goal of the night and assisted on Quad City's second last Wednesday evening in the Mallards' 6-3 loss to the PrairieThunder in Bloomington. Last Saturday night against Muskegon, Harrison notched another assist on the Mallards' first goal and then scored the equalizer as Quad City rallied to erase a 2-0 deficit before eventually falling to the Lumberjacks in overtime 4-3. Yesterday Harrison had a hand in all of the Mallards' offense, scoring the Flock's first goal in the first period and assisting Mike Zbriger on the second in the third period in a 6-2 defeat in Flint.
In total, Harrison either scored or assisted on four of the five goals the Mallards scored in their two games last weekend and played a role in six of the eight goals produced by the Flock over the three tilts it played on the week.
For the season, the 6' 0", 190-pound Harrison (4-4-8) is tied for sixth in the league in goals and leads the Mallards in goals, assists and points. Harrison has recorded two points in four of the Flock's first six outings this season. He also ranks second on the team in plus/minus (+4).
Harrison returned to North America for what is his seventh pro season after playing in Europe each of the last two years and in three of the last four campaigns. He scored seven times and collected 18 points in 14 games with HC Neuilly-sur-Marne in France last year. In 2007-08 Harrison produced 16 goals and 37 points in 31 games while skating in Italy for Fassa HC.
The 6' 0", 190-pound Harrison last played on this side of the Atlantic in 2006-07 when he scored 8 goals and notched 25 points in 60 games with the ECHL's Long Beach Ice Dogs. He first played in Europe in 2005-06 when he suited up for both KalPa Kuopio in Finland and Odense IK in Denmark.
Harrison played for three teams in three different leagues in his first two pro seasons. He broke in with the ECHL's Columbia Inferno in 2003-04. The following season he set career highs in goals (21), assists (25) and points (46) in 73 games with the United Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs while also playing nine games in the American Hockey League with the Milwaukee Admirals.
As a collegian Harrison scored 41 goals and recorded 86 points in 114 career games at Northern Michigan while helping the Wildcats to four straight winning seasons.
The Mallards play road games Friday in Fort Wayne and Saturday in Bloomington before returning home for a rematch with Bloomington Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the doors for that game will receive a free Mallards official game puck courtesy of Major League Texting.
