
IHL Announces Weekly Honors

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Quad City right wing Terry Harrison has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Flint defenseman Steve Silver has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Bloomington goaltender Andrew Martin has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 8th, 2009.
Harrison completed week four of the season registering six points in three games played by the Mallards. He scored three goals, dished out three assists and had a plus-three rating. He scored the first goal for Quad City in two of the three games played. Harrison has been involved in four of the five goals the Mallards scored in two games last weekend and six of the eight goals the Mallards scored in three games last week. The 31-year-old Winnipeg, Manitoba native currently leads the Mallards in scoring with eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) in six games played. He is also riding a three- game point streak with the six points registered this week.
Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington center Bill Bagron, Dayton left wing Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn, Flint forward Jamie Schaafsma, Fort Wayne left wing Konstantin Shafranov, Muskegon left wing John DiPace and Port Huron forward Mike Kinnie.
Silver finished the week notching in three points in his first professional weekend. The rookie defenseman joined the Generals on Thursday, November 5th and played in his first professional game the following night. Silver scored his first pro goal on his only shot of the game in the 4-3 shoot- out loss to the Komets Friday. Sunday, he got his first pro assist in the Generals 6-2 win over Quad City. The 23-year-old Brighton, Michigan native wrapped up the weekend with a plus/minus rating of plus-four, which ties him with team mate Jake Pence for the best on the team.
Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington defenseman Jesse Dudas, Dayton center Jonathon Ornelas, Fort Wayne defenseman Frankie DeAngelis, Muskegon goaltender Matt Lundin, Port Huron left wing Mikael Bedard and Quad City right wing Obi Aduba.
Martin wrapped up the week with a 1-1-0-1 record, seeing action between the pipes for the first time since October 17th. He came into the game in relief at the start of the second stanza Friday in Port Huron, turning aside all 17 shots he faced from the Icehawks for the remaining two periods and through overtime, but earned the loss in the shootout. Saturday he had his first start and win of the season, allowing only one goal from the Icehawks, making a total of 48 saves. The 26-year-old Camberley, England native finished the week with a.947 save percentage and a 1.81 goals against average, only allowing five goals against in three appearances.
Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Dayton's Ryan Mior, Flint's Jean-Francois Labbe, Fort Wayne's Tim Haun, Muskegon's Sebastien Centomo, Port Huron's Adam Russo and Quad City's Sebastien Laplante.
