
Maldonado and Myers Both Double in Loss

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Tennessee Smokies (10-17) lost their third game in a row to the Birmingham Barons (19-9) Friday night at Regions Field. The Smokies were held to just two hits in their 6-1 loss.
Both Smokies hits came in the top of the third. Nelson Maldonado opened the inning with a double, moved to third on a fly out, and scored on Connor Myers's RBI double. Jameson Fisher's three-run home run in the bottom of the third put Birmingham in front. Zack Granite scored on a groundout in the fifth, and in the sixth, the Barons scored twice to extend their lead to 6-1.
RHP Cam Sanders (L, 0-1) took the loss. He struck out a career-high eight, but was charged with five runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings. LHP Bryan Hudson struck out three over 1.2 innings and LHP Wyatt Short pitched a perfect eighth. Brennen Davis was the only other Smokie to reach base Friday, he drew a walk in the eighth.
The Smokies and Barons will play game five of their series Saturday night at Regions Field. First pitch between RHP Erich Uelmen (0-2, 4.63) and RHP Jason Bilous (0-0, 2.57) is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET. The Smokies return home for a 12-game homestand beginning on June 8. Tickets are available and can be purchased online, over the phone, or by visiting the box office.
