Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

Sault Ste. Marie, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors finished off their weekend on the road with their second and final match-up against the Soo Greyhounds this season, and were unfortunately downed 2-1 this evening. As a result, the Majors record shifts to 8-11-0-1 on the year.

It was a slow start to the contest as there was no scoring in the 1st period of play. The shots on goal were 14-6, in favour of Mississauga.

Then, James Livingston connected 7:58 (power-play) into the 2nd period, with help from Matt Caria and Matthew Lyall, to get the Greyhounds on the board. Jamie Haines put the Soo up 2-0 as he scored at 11:27 off of passes from Lyall and Brock Beukeboom to round out the frame.

Mississauga's Casey Cizikas found the back of the Greyhounds' net at 6:34 on a man-advantage in the 3rd period to cut the lead in half but unfortunately the Soo held on to a 2-1 lead, and skated off with the win. Blake Parlett and Matt Russo got the assists.

Chris Carrozzi got the start in net for the Majors and turned aside 16 shots, while Cody St. Jacques made 42 saves for the Greyhounds. Mississauga went 1 for 9 on the power-play, while Soo finished 1 for 6 on the night. The game's three stars were St. Jacques (1st), Lyall (2nd) and Cizikas (3rd).

Mississauga will return home next Friday night to host the Oshawa Generals at 7:30 p.m., and the Sarnia Sting on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
