Majors shut out by Brampton

Mississauga, ON- The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors failed to build off Wednesday night's victory, after being shut out by the Battalion 4-0. The loss drops the Majors to 38-17-4-2 on the season.

The Battalion opened the scoring three minutes into the second period, after a dull opening twenty minutes. Matt Clark's shot from the point beat Majors goaltender Chris Carrozzi on the power play to make it 1-0 for the Troops. Cody Hodgson, recently returned from a back injury that kept him out most the season; put Brampton ahead 2-0 with his sixth goal of the season just two minutes later. Hodgson broke in and beat two Majors defenders and beat Carrozzi with a shorthanded backhander. Scott Tanksi put Brampton ahead by three in the closing minutes of the period. Tanksi scored after a precise passing from Hodgson and Sean Jones.

The Battalion played defensive in the third and continued to shut down any chances by the Majors. Tanksi scored his second of the game at 19:41 of the third period, shorthanded to seal the victory for Brampton. Patrick Killeen made 14 saves and recorded his second shutout in consecutive nights. The veteran netminder shutout Sudbury last night. Chris Carrozzi made 16 saves and takes the loss for Mississauga.
