Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors will head into Wednesday night's game with Barrie facing elimination after losing tonight 3-1. The Colts now take a 3-1 lead in the series.

The Colts came out and limited Mississauga's chances throughout the game. The Majors didn't register their first shot on goal of the game until six minutes in. In the second period Mississauga's first shot on goal came after ten minutes of play. They did create chances but Barrie was able to keep goaltender Mavric Parks comfortable. While he didn't face the same work load as he did on Saturday, JP Anderson did everything he could to keep his team in the game defensively. Bryan Cameron opened the scoring for the Colts at 15:08 of the first period. Cameron took the pass from Matt Stanisz and split the Majors defence and beat Anderson for his eleventh goal of the post season. Just over three minutes later captain Stefan Della Rovere made it 2-0 for Barrie. Della Rovere fired his shot on goal past Brett Flemming and Anderson. The Colts took the 2-0 lead into the break.

After a poor start to the second Mississauga began to show signs of life and pulled to within one at 15:13 courtesy of Gregg Sutch. After the Colts failed to clear the puck Kelly Geoffrey jumped on the loose puck along the boards and passed to Sutch. Sutch walked in and his shot beat Parks low on the glove side to cut the lead to 2-1. Stuart Percy was called for high sticking seconds after the Majors goal sending Barrie to the power play. Matt Kennedy restored Barrie's two goal lead after banking in a rebound off Nick Crawford's point shot to make it 3-1 after two.

The Colts shutdown Mississauga in the third and neither team could muster anything threatening. Barrie did find themselves on a five-on-three power play advantage midway through the third but Mississauga was successful in killing off the advantage. Momentum favoured the Majors after penalties but they could not beat Parks. Mavric Parks made 23 saves for the Colts and earned the victory. JP Anderson stopped 34 of the 37 shots he faced and takes the loss for the Majors.

Game 5 goes Wednesday night in Barrie at 7:30 p.m. If the Majors are victorious the series will be back in Mississauga on Friday night with game time scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
