Rangers' Jeremy Morin Named Boston Pizza OHL Player Of The Week
April 19, 2010 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) News Release
Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Jeremy Morin of the Kitchener Rangers is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 18. Morin had seven points in four games with a league-high six goals plus one assist and a plus-minus rating of plus-3.
Morin was clutch for the Rangers providing two hat-trick performances receiving first star of the game honours in both contests. His first career playoff hat-trick led the Rangers to an 8-3 win over the London Knights in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals, and his latest three-goal effort lifted his club to a 5-3 win over the Windsor Spitfires Sunday night in Game 3 action of the Rogers Western Conference Championship Series. He also added an assist in Game 1 of the series on Thursday night in a 7-6 overtime win. The Rangers are one game away from advancing to the Rogers OHL Championship Series leading the Spitfires 3-0 with Game 4 scheduled for Tuesday night in Kitchener.
Morin, who turned 19-years-old last week, is a native of Auburn, NY. He completed his first OHL season scoring 47 goals and 36 assists for 83 points in 58 games, and has 17 points through 16 playoff games. Selected 45th overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Morin captured gold with Team USA at the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships.
Last week's award winner Jeff Skinner and Rangers' teammate Chris MacKinnon were each considered for the award. Skinner led the league with 10 points in four games scoring four goals and six assists, while MacKinnon recorded nine points in four games with two goals and seven assists. Mavric Parks was once again the OHL's top goaltender posting a 2-1-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 2.00 and save percentage of .934.
