
Majors Can't Weather the Storm

Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Mississauga ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors returned home for a contest against the Guelph Storm, but unfortunately faced a disappointing 3-1 defeat this afternoon. As a result, the Majors record shifts to 7-7-0-0 on the season.
Mississauga got the action started when Mike Pelech wired a shot into the Storm's net 6:36 into the 1st period, on a man-advantage, to give the home team a 1-0 lead. The assists went to Jordan Mayer and Majors goalie, JP Anderson.
The Majors remained in a 1-0 lead as the 2nd period was scoreless. The shots on goal were 12-7 in favour of Guelph.
However, the visitors stormed right back in the 3rd period with a goal coming from Luke Pither at 1:06, with help from Taylor Beck and Tyler Carroll, to tie the affair. Then, JP Labardo connected at 3:37 off of passes from Anthony Nigro and Denis Hollenstein, to put the Storm up 2-1. Unfortunately, Brandon Buck put the game away for Guelph with his emtpy-net goal coming at 19:34. Peter Holland got the sole assist.
Anderson got the start in net for the Majors and made 30 saves while Thomas McCollum also blocked 30 shots for the Storm. Mississauga went 1 for 4 on the power-play, while Guelph finished 0 for 4. The game's three stars were McCollum (1st), Nigro (2nd) and Rinaldo (3rd).
The Majors will finish off their homestand tomorrow afternoon when the Belleville Bulls come to visit at 2 p.m.
