
Maine's Xavier Silas Signs with Philadelphia 76ers

NEW YORK, April 24, 2012 - The Philadelphia 76ers today signed Maine Red Claws guard Xavier Silas for the record 59th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2011-12 NBA Development League season. Silas joins more than 100 NBA players with NBA D-League experience currently on 2011-12 rosters.
In 39 games with the Red Claws, 22 starts, Silas (6-5, 205, Northern Illinois) averaged 9.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 23.6 minutes while shooting 40 percent from the floor, 30 percent from three point range and 79 percent from the free throw line.
As a senior at Northern Illinois, Silas led the Mid-American Conference in scoring with 22.3 points per game, while shooting 46 percent from the floor, 41 percent from beyond the arc and 85 percent from the stripe.
Silas is expected to join the 76ers today and be available tomorrow when the team travels to face the Milwaukee Bucks.
