
MAINEiacs Win Third Straight

LEWISTON, ME - Michael Chaput's hat trick lifted the Lewiston MAINEiacs to a 6-4 home victory over the Gatineau Olympiques Wednesday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. The win marks the third straight for the MAINEiacs, who have also won four out of their last five contests.
Lewiston raced out to a 4-0 lead in the second period on goals from Jean-Francois Plante, Etienne Brodeur, and a pair of goals from Michael Chaput. Gatineau's Denis Kindl turned the momentum to his team's favor with his 13th tally of the season halfway through the period, making the score 4 to 1.
Gatineau scored early in the third period to pull within two on a goal by Christian Ouellette, cutting the Lewiston lead in half 4-2 However, the MAINEiacs Nick Huard scored his second goal in as many games to extend the Lewiston lead to three. The Olympiques would not go away quietly, scoring two more goals in the third to make the score 5 to 4.
In the final minute, and an empty Gatineau net, Billy Lacasse sprinted with the puck and handed it off to Chaput who threw it into the empty net to complete the hat trick and seal the 6-4 Lewiston victory. Lewiston and Gatineau will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Tickets may be purchased at the Colisee box office.
