Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Happy New Year- The Lewiston MAINEiacs certainly set the bar high for the calendar year of 2011, as they gave fans a wonderful memory on Tuesday night. The boys in black took two years of frustration out on the Drummondville Voltigeurs, handing them a 7-0 defeat at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Francis Beauvillier became the team's seventh player to reach double digits in goals, while Nicholas Champion earned his first shutout in a Lewiston uniform.

Special Teams Nearly Perfect- Tuesday night's performance by Lewiston 's special teams was one of this season's best. The MAINEiacs scored on two of their three power play opportunities, while keeping Drummondville off of the board in all three of their chances. Lewiston will look to continue that success tonight, as Rouyn-Noranda ranks 17th on the power play (14.5%) and 18th on the penalty kill (71.0%).

Brisebois Returns to Lewiston- At this past summer's QMJHL Entry Draft, the MAINEiacs and Huskies pulled off a trade, with Lewiston acquiring goaltender Nicholas Champion and Rouyn-Noranda picking up defenseman Mathieu Brisebois. Brisebois played in 31 games as a MAINEiac, recording seven assists and 22 penalty minutes last season. Thus far this season, the 18-year old has two goals, four assists, six points, and 11 penalty minutes in 22 games.

We Just Saw You- If forward Alexandre Comtois knew what was coming, he should have just stayed in Lewiston for the week. On Tuesday, Comtois was a member of the Drummondville Voltigeurs, who fell 7-0 to the MAINEiacs at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Now, the 18-year old is a member of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, who will play two games in Lewiston this weekend. Comtois and Pierre-Karl Marion were both acquired in trades yesterday, joining Jeremy Barriault, Robin Gusse, Antoine Nadeau, and Radovan Pulis, who were also picked up by the Huskies during the trade period.

Head-to-Head- Tonight marks the 22nd all-time meeting between the MAINEiacs and Huskies, as well as the third this season. At the end of September and beginning of October, the two clubs split a pair of games in Rouyn-Noranda, with the Huskies winning the first tilt 5-4 in a shootout, before the MAINEiacs responded with an 8-0 victory in the finale. Lewiston has the historical lead over Rouyn-Noranda, going 10-8 with three ties. The MAINEiacs also have the lead in games played at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, going 5-3 with two ties.

Who to Watch for- Prior to being traded, Alexandre Comtois was sixth on the Drummondville Voltigeurs in scoring. Now, his 26 points are tops on the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, as he joins a club searching for offense. Jeremi Janneteau previously led the Huskies with 21 points, while Jessyko Bernard remains the team's leading goal scorer with 14. Last year's QMJHL Rookie of the Year, Robin Gusse, will look to get the majority of the time between the pipes after being acquired from Chicoutimi .
