Maine Freeze Focused on Saturday's Game Against Rochester Raptors

The Rochester Raptors Saturday, March 29 in the first pre-season game of the year. The Freeze and Raptors are members of the world's largest full contact football organization for women, The National Women's Football Association.

The Maine Freeze organization recruited heavily from area colleges during pre-season tryouts and has been diligently practicing since late December. Freeze Head Coach Jason McLeod returns for his second year at the helm and feels confident that the Freeze will perform well. "The team has worked hard and has been waiting months for this game. We are very excited and focused for Saturday's game", states McLeod.

This season the Freeze has made the move from Old Orchard Beach to a more fan-friendly venue at Portland's Fitzpatrick Stadium. In addition to the venue move, the team has new uniforms, a team mascot, cheerleaders and a larger selection of Maine Freeze merchandise.

The National Women's Football Association kicks off its third season on April 12 with 30 teams competing for the 2003 Championship. The league has sold 6 licenses for 2004. Additional teams for 2004 include: Shoals SmasHers (AL), Roanoke Revenge (VA), Evansville Express (IN). Denton Stampede (TX), Dallas (TX) and Austin Outlaws (TX).

Half-price tickets can be purchased on-line at www.mainefreeze.com until midnight Friday. On-line ticket prices are $7.50/adult and $5.00/children ages six and over. Game day ticket purchasers receive $3.00 off original ticket price. Gates open at 6p.m. and game time is 7:05p.m.
