Maine Freeze Golf Tournament Set for June, Baldacci Scheduled to Attend

(PORTLAND, ME) - - The Maine Freeze, a member of the National Women's Football Association will stage a fundraising golf tournament on June 2 at Spring Meadows Golf Course in Gray. Golfers will play with team members, coaches and staff during the 18-hole scramble, or meet them at the post-tourney awards and barbeque. Maine's Governor John Baldacci will be on hand during the awards ceremony. Portland's Chief of Police, Mike Chitwood and WCSH 6 Sportscaster, Lee Goldberg will be two of several local celebrity golfers.

Executive Director of the Maine Golf Hall of Fame, Mr. Blaine Davis spearheads the Maine Freeze Classic. The National Women's Football Association kicked off its third season on April 12 with 30 teams competing for the 2003 Championship. The league has sold 6 additional licenses for 2004. Additional teams for 2004 include: Shoals SmasHers (AL), Roanoke Revenge (VA), Evansvil le Express (IN). Denton Stampede (TX), Dallas (TX) and Austin Outlaws (TX).
