Magicians to take on Pit Bulls January 5th
December 29, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Birmingham Magicians News Release
Birmingham, AL...The Birmingham Magicians of the American Basketball Association announced today that team will host the Florida Pit Bulls on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Fair Park Arena. The Pit Bulls are led by former NBA All-Star and player/head coach Tim Hardaway. Hardaway at 38 is leading the Pit Bulls in scoring at nearly 30 points per game for the ABA's 6th ranked team. The game will mark the first meeting between the Moses Malone/Marvin Barnes division teams. The 9-3 Pit Bulls are currently in first place in the division with the 12th ranked Magicians in second place with a 4-2 record.
The game will also mark the playing debut of Magicians' head coach, Jim Farmer, a former NBA 1st round draft pick and Alabama All-American. Farmer last played professionally for the Magic Johnson All-Stars after a 5 year stint in the NBA. "I am looking forward to going against Tim who is a former teammate at the Dallas Mavericks, "Farmer said. "He is still a great player and scorer who could still play in the NBA if he wanted to."
The Magicians have not played since defeating the Charlotte Krunk in early December and are anxious to get back into action according to leading scorer, Brian Williams. "It's been a few weeks, but it won't be a problem getting up for one of the premier teams in the league," Williams said. "We just want our fans to come out and see some exciting basketball and support the Magicians," Williams said.
The Magicians next games are at Atlanta on January 6, and 7 before traveling to play at Florida on January 8th. The next homes game are January 12 and 14 against the Atlanta Vision.
