
Magic Set to Open Training Camp

Rio Grande Valley Magic News Release
MCALLEN, Texas---- The Rio Grande Valley Magic will be starting their 2012 Training Camp to prepare for the upcoming season. Players and coaches will report to their spring training grounds at De Leon Middle School in McAllen. Players will undergo their first workouts with no pads or helmets. The event is open to the public and members of the media. The event will be on Sunday March 18th as camp will start at 2:00 p.m.
Regular Practice grounds will be the Bicentennial Soccer Complex in McAllen. First couple of practices will consist of no helmet or pads. Camp will last the first two weeks prior to the first game. Media and the public are encouraged to attend.
Some of the players that will be in training camp will include members of last season's team that made the post-season which are quarterback Billy Garza, wide-receivers: Travis McAlpine, Danny Young, and Anthony Fitzgerald; defensive linemen: Bradley Deary, Diego Saenz, Homer Saenz, and Brian Ellis, defensive backs; David Irizany, and Humberto Cerda. Other players that will be in training camp will be local players that include kicker Leo Araguz, defensive players Randy Enriquez, Juan Villalpando, Jose Arellano, and quarterback Renato Nuñez.
The Magic will start their inaugural season in the Lone Star Football League against the Laredo Rattlesnakes on Monday night April 2, 2012 at the State Farm Arena with the kickoff set for 7:05 p.m. The team will wear purple jerseys that will benefit the March of Dimes Foundation on opening night. The jerseys will be auctioned off at the end of the game with all proceeds going to the March of Dimes Foundations. Season and individual tickets are available by calling (956) 789-1644.
