Magic Hangs On For Victory In Home Opener

Mirsad Dzilic scored two goals and boosted the Kansas Magic to a 4-3 victory Saturday at EPIC Indoor Sports in Overland Park, Kansas.

Dzilic scored both his goals in the third quarter to give the Magic (2-0) a 4-2 lead after three quarters. Illinois (0-2) narrowed the Magic's lead with a goal from Justin Judiscak at 14:30 of the fourth quarter. But Kansas held off Piasa in the final 30 seconds to secure the victory.

Kansas defender Colin Bulwich scored the game's first goal at 4:35 of the first quarter. Tim Vance tied the game for Illinois at 11:15. The half ended with the score level, 1-1.

Kyle Brown put Kansas ahead with a goal at 2:53 of the third quarter. Dzilic put the Magic two goals ahead at 4:01 before Roger Gemoules scored a power play goal for Illinois at 10:24. Dzilic scored his second of the game, and fourth of the season, at 14:09.

Illinois forward Elvir Kafedzic failed to score in the game after scoring six goals against the Magic at Illinois one week prior to Saturday's game.

The Magic returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 20 with a game at home against the Detroit Waza. Game time has been changed to 7:05 p.m. from the previous schedule.
