Rio Grande Valley Magic News Release

McALLEN, Texas---- After coming off their "Bye Week" the Rio Grande Valley Magic are prepared to continue their road portion of the schedule in Lone Star Football League. It is the second of three road game on Saturday versus the West Texas Roughnecks.

With the Magic being well rested the team is looking forward to continue the road winning streak which started in Corpus Christi with a 74-67 victory and improved their record to 1-1.

Marcel Douglas earned the Defensive Player of the Week of Lone Star Football League for Week Two. Douglas had 111 all-purpose yards with an interception along with a fumble and kickoff return for touchdowns.

Head Coach Schuyler "Skyler" Anderson said "I was proud at our performance and ability to bounce back from our first lost of the season after beating the Hammerheads. Guys stepped up in all phases of our team scoring on offense, defense and special teams. Our goal was to play four quarters of Magic Football. We certainly did that against Corpus."

Coach Anderson commented on the upcoming game "Heading into the game against West Texas, it brings another challenge for our guys. Being able to have a bye week and pick up where we left off. The Corpus game left us changing our line up again due to injuries. But I feel like the guys we have signed to step into the line-up this week can help us work towards our goal and win the game."

Before the Magic take off on Friday; the players, dance team, and Kazaam the mascot will be attending a pep rally at Esparza Elementary in Edinburg, TX on Thursday to cheer on and motivate the students before they take the state mandated STARR test.

Magic home and away games can be heard on 840 AM Fox Sports Radio with a 15 minute pre-game show hosted by play-by-play voice Ric Miller.

The Magic will continue their inaugural season in the Lone Star Football League on the road against the Abilene Ruff Riders on Saturday night April 28, 2012 at the Taylor County Expo Center with the kickoff set for 7:05 p.m.

The Magic will have their next home game on Saturday May 5, 2012 as they will host the Amarillo Venom at the State Farm Arena. Season and individual tickets are available by calling (956) 905-5401 or visiting a ticket master outlet.

The Magic are members of the Lone Star Football League, an independent league of seven professional indoor football teams located in Texas that include Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Odessa, Abilene, and Houston.
