Madera's Blast in 12th Lifts Bears

Sandy Madera launched a walk off home run in the twelfth inning to cap a thrilling 4-3 come from behind victory for the Newark Bears.

The Bears were scoreless in the first six innings trailing the Sharks by two runs until Charlton Jimerson stepped to the plate in the seventh to crush a three run bomb. Jimerson continues to lead the Atlantic League in batting and slugging and stretches his hitting streak to thirteen games with the homer.

Sandy Madera blasted his twelfth home run of the year in walk off fashion to sweep the three game series against Camden and extend the Bears winning streak to four games.

After three innings of work striking out three and allowing just two hits, Mike Hrynio notched the win to bring his record to 3-4 for the season. Starting pitcher Shane Komine tossed for seven innings, giving up just two runs. Michael Flannery took to the mound in the twelfth and recorded the loss after giving up the Madera home run.

After ten straight games at home, the Bears will travel to Central Islip to take on the Long Island Ducks on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They return to Riverfront Stadium on Thursday for their final home series of the regularly scheduled season.
