Ohio Junior Blue Jackets News Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio Junior Blue Jackets forward Zac MacVoy earned United States Hockey League Offensive Player of the Week and Defenseman Pat Goebel was runner-up for Defensive Player of the Week, the USHL announced late Monday.

MacVoy (Lake Superior State) scored three goals in two games against the Des Moines Buccaneers, accounting for half of the Junior Blue Jackets goals on the weekend. He scored the lone goal on Friday night and contributed two goals and an assist in Saturday's 5-4 victory. Both goals on Saturday were power play goals, the final one a game-winner in the third period.

Goebel, who was credited with assists on both of MacVoy's goals, had three helpers for the game. He scored more points (3) in one night than he had all season (2) prior to Saturday, in helping Ohio earn a weekend split with Des Moines.

MacVoy and Goebel are the third and fourth Junior Blue Jackets to be recognized by the league. Goaltender Troy Redmann was recognized as honorable mention Goalie of the Week Dec. 18, for the week of Dec. 10-17. Defenseman Chris Reed was an honorable mention Defensive Player of Week Jan. 2, for the week of Dec. 24-31.
