June 8, 2007 - South Coast League (SCL)
South Georgia Peanuts News Release

The South Georgia Peanuts, presented by Security Bank, lost their fourth game in a row and second consecutive series on Friday night. South Georgia lost by a score of 6-3 at Macon as Damas Garcia lost his first game of the season.

South Georgia ended a 16-inning scoreless streak in the top of the fourth inning. Johnny Washington led off the inning with a walk. Steve Garrabrants then came up and promptly hit a two-run homerun to left-center to give the Peanuts a 2-0 lead. The homerun was the third on the year for Garrabrants as he is the only player to have more than one long ball.

The lead only lasted one inning as Macon scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Damas Garcia, who did not allow a run in the first four innings, did not retire a batter and allowed five runs in the fifth. The Music added a run off of Mike Colacchio in the sixth.

South Georgia got back within three runs in the seventh. Chris Demons led off with a walk, stole second and third and then scored on a passed ball. South Georgia would put runners at first and second with one out but could not score either runners. Steve Garrabrants struck-out on an iffy pitch to end the inning.

Garcia ended up going four innings, allowing five runs on five hits with two walks, two hit batters and one strikeout. Jake Upwood and Ja Jones did combine for 2.2 innings of scoreless baseball

The Peanuts ended up with only five hits on the night. The two teams will face each other again Saturday night for the series finale. Austin Weilep is set to get the start for the Peanuts. First pitch is set for 7:05. The game can be heard in South Georgia on "1450 The Fan" and worldwide at www.southgeorgiapenauts.com.
