Aiken Foxhounds News Release

AIKEN , S.C. - The Bradenton Juice (11-7) rallied with two late runs, and Nick Corbeil drilled a game-winning solo homer leading off the bottom of the tenth as the visitors handed the Aiken Foxhounds (13-6) a 3-2 extra-inning setback. After starting the season 8-0 at home, the Foxhounds have now dropped two straight to the Juice.

Trailing 2-0 entering the top of the eighth, the Juice scored once in the eighth and once in the ninth to tie the game. In the ninth, Al Corbeil led off with a double off Aiken closer A.J. Montano, advanced to third on an error, and scored on Mikela Olsen's one-out double to right-center field.

The Foxhounds threatened to win it in their half of the inning. Joe Cuttone got things started with a leadoff single. He advanced to second on a sacrifice fly and moved to third on a flyout. Ben Bando hit what looked to be game-winning single up the middle, but Julius Thames got to the ball and made a strong throw to get Bando by a step.

That set the stage for Nick Corbeil's heroics in the tenth. The catcher hit Cody Reed's pitch over the wall in left-center field. Reed (2-1) took the loss, allowing one run on one hit in 1.0 inning.

Steve Alverson (1-0) earned the win for Bradenton, working around a base hit in both the ninth and tenth innings.

The pitchers dominated the game early on. Bradenton starter Derek Hawk cruised through the first four innings, allowing just two hits. Aiken starter Jesse Krause matched Hawk, allowing just one hit and no runs through four innings before giving way to David Martinez in the fifth.

After 13 consecutive scoreless innings to start their homestand, the Foxhounds finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning. After a Jeff Landry single, Evandy DeLeon drilled one off the left-field foul pole for a 2-0 Hounds lead. The home run was DeLeon's league-leading ninth of the season.

DeLeon finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI before leaving in the seventh after an awkward slide into second on a double left the centerfielder hobbled. Cuttone added three hits in four at-bats for the Hounds.

The Foxhounds and the Juice will conclude their three-game series on Saturday night at 7:05 PM.
