Aiken Foxhounds News Release
AIKEN , S.C. - The visiting Macon Music (23-11) won their second straight over the Aiken Foxhounds (19-15) Tuesday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium, breaking a 6-6 tie with two runs in the seventh inning and winning 9-6.
Ismael Castro hit an RBI double to break the tie and Rick Simpson plated another run with an RBI single as the Music took the lead in the top of the seventh off of Aiken reliever A.J. Montano (1-1). Macon scored an unearned run in the eighth for the final margin.
Aiken starter Jesse Krause, who came into the game as the South Coast League's leader in earned run average, was hit hard by the Music in the top of the second. With two on and two out, Krause walked Rick Simpson to load the bases. His counterpart, Macon starter David Seccombe, stepped in and drilled the first pitch he saw deep over the wall in left for a grand slam and a 4-0 Music lead.
The Foxhounds wasted little time getting back into the game, tagging Seccombe for five runs on seven hits in their half of the second. The Hounds put together four consecutive singles to start the inning. Krause stepped to the plate and hit a possible double play ball back to Seccombe, but the pitcher's throw to second sailed into center field, allowing the second run of the inning to score. Garth McKinney followed with an RBI single before Bradley Key finished the scoring with a two-run double down the left-field line.
Seccombe again struck at the plate in the top of the fourth, drilling an RBI double to left field to score one run. The ball was misplayed by Aiken left fielder Ben Bando, allowing another run to score and giving the Music a 6-5 lead.
Aiken tied the game in the sixth against Macon reliever Bryce Florie with an RBI single from Key. Florie (2-0) earned the win when the Music regained the lead in the seventh.
Seccombe finished 2-for-3 with five RBI for the Music while Castro, Simpson, and Carlos Arroyo each added two hits.
Key went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in for the Hounds, and McKinney, Bando, Francis Finnerty, and Josh Eachues added two hits apiece.
Macon and Aiken will conclude their three-game series Wednesday night at 7:05 PM.
