MacLeod earns first NLL weekly honor

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks forward Mat MacLeod has been named the National Lacrosse League Rookie of the Week after recording two goals and one assist in the Knighthawks' 20-12 win over the Philadelphia Wings on March 29th. The award is the first of MacLeod's young career.

The Knighthawks picked MacLeod (Orangeville, Ontario) with the eighth overall selection in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft. MacLeod recorded 74 goals and 102 assists in 62 games in three seasons with the Orangeville Northmen. In 2007, he finished fifth in the Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior "A" with 65 points (30+35) in 18 games. In the playoffs, he was also fifth with 23 goals and 15 assists in 15 games as the Northmen advanced to the OLA Junior "A" Finals.

This week, Rochester hits the road for two games in three nights. The trek begins on Thursday, April 3rd, as Rochester travels to Denver's Pepsi Center to take on the Colorado Mammoth. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM, wysl1040.com and B2 Networks.

On Saturday, April 5th, the Knighthawks journey to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto to take on the Rock at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM, wysl1040.com and B2 Networks. Both games will be carried live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet (Channel 26).
