
MacDonald Earns IHL Honor

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - For the second week in a row and the fourth time this season, Craig Macdonald of the Bloomington PrairieThunder has been named the Player of the Week by the International Hockey League, it was announced Monday.
The 27-year-old Macdonald scored four goals and had three assists for seven points during a three-game span. He began the week with his first hat trick as a member of the PrairieThunder and added an assist in a 7-5 victory over Flint. He finished the week with one goal and two assists in a 4-3 shootout loss at Muskegon.
Macdonald had a part in seven of the team's 10 goals scored. He is tied for the team lead in scoring with Jon Booras with 55 points on a team-leading 26 goals and 29 assists in 45 games.
The Milton, Ontario native, along with Booras, is tied for third in the league in scoring. Macdonald also is tied for the league lead in power play goals with 10 and ranks second in game-winning goals with six.
The IHL honor marks the eighth time a PrairieThunder player has been recognized this season. Besides Macdonald, former goaltender Paulo Colaiacovo, current goaltender Andrew Martin and center Jon Booras have earned the league's top weekly honor. Booras also was honored as the Player of the Month for January.
The PrairieThunder returns to action Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. contest at Fort Wayne. Bloomington has a 20-18-2-5 record for 47 points and trails the Komets by seven points for third place in the standings.
