M-Braves to Hold Spring Fling & Fan Fest April 4

PEARL, MS -- The Mississippi Braves are excited to announce the first M-Braves Spring Fling and Fan Fest scheduled for Saturday, April 4 at Trustmark Park. The event kicks off at 11:00 AM and runs until 11:00 PM. For just $15 per person, fans may gain entry into the ballpark as well as a wristband for unlimited rides at the carnival.

Former Atlanta Braves Wes Helms, Bob Horner and John Rocker will be signing autographs for fans from 1:30 to 2:45 PM. Helms spent five seasons with the A-Braves (1998-02). He also spent time with the Brewers (2003-05), Marlins (2006, 2008-11) and Phillies (2007). In 13 Major League seasons, Helms posted a .256 average with 75 home runs and 374 RBI.

In 10 seasons, Horner spent time with Atlanta (1978-86) and St. Louis (1988), posting a career .277 average with 218 long balls and 685 RBI. His awards include NL All-Star (1982), NL Rookie of the Year (1978), Golden Spikes Award (1978) and CWS Most Outstanding Player (1977). Horner also hit four home runs in one game, July 6, 1986.

Rocker posted a career ERA of 3.42 and a record of 13-22 with 88 saves in six big-league seasons with the Braves (1998-01), Indians (2001), Rangers (2002) and Rays (2003). An 18th round draft pick in 1993, Rocker made his MLB debut in 1998. He moved into the closer role the following season, recording 38 saves that year. Rocker's autobiography Scars and Strikes was released in December 2011.

Inside the stadium, the Braves will offer a "supersized" fun zone area with inflatables, bounce houses, an obstacle course, a rock climbing wall and a mechanical bull in addition to the M-Braves usual fun zone inflatables. There will also be a silent auction, raffle, more games and the chance to register to win prizes.

The Braves Main Stage will feature live music throughout the day.

Mitchell Bros. and Sons will have a carnival set up in the main parking lot Thursday, April 2 through Sunday, April 5. The carnival is open Thursday and Friday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Saturday's hours are Noon to 11:00 PM. Easter Sunday hours are Noon to 6:00 PM. Thursday, Friday & Sunday pricing is $25 for an unlimited wristband ($20 if purchased in advance). Individual ride tickets will also be available.

The M-Braves Spring Fling and Fan Fest is sponsored by Trustmark Bank, Bass Pro Shops, The Alumni House at Holiday Inn--Trustmark Park and the Outlets of Mississippi. The Mississippi Braves baseball team is the Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Since making the move from Greenville, SC, in 2005, over 90 M-Braves have gone on to play in the big leagues. The M-Braves have made postseason play three times and went on to win the Southern League Championship in 2008. The M-Braves open the 2015 season on Thursday, April 9 against the Tennessee Smokies.
