Mississippi Braves News Release

Pearl, MS - The Mississippi Braves are proud to announce that the flagship station of the M-Braves for the 2008 season will be WZRX - 1590 AM. In addition, the Braves are pleased to announce that Ben Ingram, the M-Braves color commentator in 2007, will take over as play-by-play announcer for the M-Braves in '08.

WZRX 1590 AM, known as NewsPlus 1590, is a news radio station in Jackson, MS that simulcasts CNN Headline News as well as local news. Award-winning broadcaster Randy Bell is the principal announcer of local news on WZRX.

Throughout the last 50 years, WZRX 1590 AM has run the gauntlet of musical genres. The station has played rock-and-roll, big-band, blues, and gospel. In 2006, the station made the switch to 24-hour news coverage. The "Plus" comes from the fact that the station offers other programming including in 2008, the Mississippi Braves.

Ben Ingram, who's experience in sports casting dates back to 1998, will man the microphone for NewsPlus 1590 and the Mississippi Braves in 2008. Ingram got his start doing color commentary on community college football and baseball games when he was 18. He earned his first play-by-play job as a sophomore at Mississippi College and was the voice of the Choctaws until graduation in 2003.

Since graduation, Ingram has climbed the ladder through the minor league baseball system. In 2004, he was the play-by-play announcer for the Jackson Senators of the Independent Central Baseball League. He then landed his first job in affiliated baseball with the Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League. In 2007, Ben served as #2 broadcaster for the Mississippi Braves, but in 2008, he will take over as the full-time voice of the M-Braves. Ingram is also the host of "Mississippi Sports this Afternoon" weekdays from 4-5 pm on The Score, Sportsradio 620, WJDX, another Clear Channel station.

When he's not behind the microphone, Ingram is a triathlete and has completed a full marathon. He enjoys working out, road trips, concerts, and watching live sporting events, but his biggest interests are baseball and college football. He's a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison and enjoys serving in his church.
