
M-Braves Community and School Initiatives for 2011

Mississippi Braves News Release
Pearl, MS - The Mississippi Braves announced today several new community and school initiatives for the 2011 season. The M-Braves rededicated their organization to the citizens of the Jackson Metro area, as well as all of Mississippi, by bringing back some previous programs, and forming some new and very exciting initiatives.
Returning in 2011 after a one year absence, the Braves are bringing back a revised and improved version of the kids' club named Trusty's Tribe. In addition, the M-Braves are extremely proud to bring back the Mississippi Braves Summer Reading Program. Details of both programs will be announced at a later date.
New for 2011, the M-Braves are announcing the following initiatives:
Straight A Student Program
Shadowing & Mentoring Program
(For H.S. Seniors interested in a career in Sports Management)
School Fundraising Programs
M-Braves Adopt A School Program
Be A Brave Nights
(Students of all ages help run the ballpark during the game)
School Essay and Coloring Contests
School Celebrity Speakers' Bureau
(Mississippi Braves Players, Coaches and Staff conduct school programs on various
topics such as Importance of Education, Drug Awareness, Reading, Character Education,
Health & Fitness, Crime Prevention & Awareness, and Mascot appearances)
"The children of our communities are our future," states M-Braves General Manager Steve DeSalvo. "I feel the Mississippi Braves have the opportunity and the obligation to be leaders and role models for our children. We are extremely excited about rededicating our organization to the fine people of Mississippi and are proud to become partners with our schools in molding the hearts and minds of our children as well as the hearts and minds of our community."
Details of each of these programs, and others being considered, will be announced in the months to come.
