
M-Braves Come up Short in Series Finale against Blue Wahoos

PENSACOLA, FL - The Mississippi Braves (46-50, 17-10) scored the final four runs of the game but dropped the series finale 7-4 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (49-42, 14-13) on Sunday afternoon at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
The M-Braves dropped four of six in the series, finishing at 3-6 on their nine-game road trip. The club went 16-8 in July, their best month of the season. They won seven in a row from July 12-22.
Griffin Conine blasted an opposite field home run to give the Blue Wahoos a 1-0 lead in the first. The Blue Wahoos added four more runs in the next three innings, including a two-run homer from Thomas Jones.
LHP Dylan Dodd struck out six over four innings, allowing five runs in his third Double-A start.
RHP Coleman Huntley III delivered a shutout inning in the fifth. The right-hander has a 3.19 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 48 innings.
Pensacola scored two more in the sixth to lead 7-0.
The M-Braves came to life in the seventh, scoring three runs off five hits.
Vaughn Grissom, Justyn-Henry Malloy and Drew Lugbauer all singled to start the frame, with Lugbauer's single scoring Grissom. Jalen Miller smoked an RBI double off the wall in left, and Hendrik Clementina's RBI groundout cut the deficit to 7-3.
Grissom has hit in 13 of 15 games since being promoted to Mississippi on July 12. Atlanta's No. 4 prospect is batting .387 with two home runs, 10 RBI and six stolen bases.
Malloy and Lugbauer each went 2-for-4. Miller recorded two RBI, going 1-for-4.
The M-Braves return home on Tuesday, August 2 for a six-game home series against the Biloxi Shuckers.
