Pensacola, Fla.--Tyler Lyon scored three minutes into the third period of Sunday's matinée game here to give the Louisiana IceGators a 2-1 victory over the Pensacola IceFlyers.

Reid MacLeod and Shawn McNeil assisted on the goal, which capped off an IceGators comeback from an early 1-0 deficit.

The IceGators (13-4-1) return to the ice Thursday night when they host the Columbus Cottonmouths in the Cajundome. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.

"That's how you respond after a loss," said IceGators head coach Kevin Kaminski. "The guys showed their true colors tonight. They wore the Gator jersey with pride. They sacrificed their bodies big time, blocked a lot of shots, fought through adversity, and did whatever it took to get the win. It was a gutsy performance"

Pensacola jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Keegan Flaherty scored with 2:47 remaining in the first period. Adam Pawlick and Corey Banfield assisted on the goal.

The IceGators tied the game 99 seconds into the second period. Chris Wilson scored on a Matt Robertson feed to even the score to swing the momentum back towards the IceGators.

Louisiana goaltender Keifer Smiley gave an excellent performance, stopping 39 of Pensacola's 40 shots.

The victory the IceGators' lead in the SPHL standings to four points over the second-place IceFlyers (11-7-1). Kaminski says his team needs to increase its intensity to further extend that lead.

"The guys knew what was at stake tonight," Kaminski remarked. "No we have to take it to another level and be more consistent with our play."
