Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx announced today that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Ken Scuderi for the 2005-06 Season.
The 6-2, 205 lb. blueliner enters his rookie season after four campaigns with the Clarkson Golden Knights, where he served as Alternate Captain his senior year. Consistently among the team's leaders in plus/minus over his tenure at Clarkson, Scuderi notched four goals and 24 points and a +19 rating in 133 career contests. The Bethpage, NY native also received Clarkson's Mike Morrison Coaches Award for the 2004-05 Season.
"Ken is a big, strong defenseman who has more experience than your typical rookie," said Lynx head coach Bob Ferguson. "Plus, he comes from a tremendous program at Clarkson that is known for turning out quality pro players. He'll play solid in his own zone, adding a physical presence and protecting our net."
Prior to his college career, the 24 year-old Scuderi played three seasons in the United States (junior) Hockey League with the Dubuque Fighting Saints and the Lincoln Stars. Totaling 140 games between the two clubs, he scored 15 goals and 36 points along with 137 PIMs. Dealt from Dubuque to Lincoln during the 99-00 campaign, Scuderi was instrumental in helping the Stars make the playoffs both seasons.
"Kenny is not a flashy guy, but he takes care of business in his own end," said Clarkson head coach George Roll. "He plays physical and moves the puck well."
Hockey runs in the Scuderi bloodlines, as his brother, Rob, played 13 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2003-04 before the NHL lockout this past season. Rob was also a member of Boston College's NCAA Championship team and was selected to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2001.
Scuderi now brings to five the number of Lynx who are on board for this season, along with Brian Passmore, Ryan Lang, Chris Chaput, and Jimmy Callahan. Lynx full and partial season ticket packages are now on sale through the team office at 712 Telfair St. in Augusta by calling (706) 724-4ICE, or on line through the team's web site at www.augustalynx.com.
