Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

JUPITER, FL-For the second straight outing Scott Lyman was outstanding but the one run he allowed turned out to be all the Bradenton Marauders needed as Jupiter fell 1-0 on Saturday night.

After Lyman struck out Jeff Roy to start the game, Walker Gourley reached on a double. Adam Frazier would follow with a single up the middle to plate Gourley and make it a 1-0 game.

The score would never change.

Lyman allowed just three hits the rest of the night, but he was saddled with a tough-luck loss on a night when his teammates' bats were relatively silent.

The Hammerheads managed just five hits on the evening and Jupiter had just one prime scoring opportunity and it came in the fifth inning.

With one out in the frame Angel Morales reached on a single. Cody Keefer then pulled a single by the second baseman to move Morales over to third. With Ross Wilson batting, Keefer stole second to put two men in scoring position. But the threat would end there when Orlando Castro struck out Wilson and Blake Barber to end the inning. The Hammerheads would be held hitless the rest of the night.

Castro earned his second victory of the year after he tossed six innings of shutout ball with four strikeouts. He didn't issue a walk.

Robby Rowland tossed two perfect innings out of the pen for Bradenton and Jhondaniel Medina pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his first save.

Lyman ended up going seven innings. He allowed the one run on five hits with five strikeouts and a walk.

Chipper Smith came out of the bullpen and was fantastic for the third time this season for Jupiter. Smith faced seven batters and struck out five of them. He hasn't allowed a run in 10 innings this season. He has struck out 14 on the year.

The Hammerheads and the Marauders will play the rubber match of the series on Sunday. Jupiter will play day baseball at Roger Dean Stadium for the first time this year. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
