Lunkers Open Gates to Military Servicemembers

(Brainerd Lakes Area) - The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers of the Northwoods League, in partner with RE/MAX Lakes Area Realty, announced today that all Military servicemembers, current and former, will be able to attend all 35 Lunkers games during the 2011 regular season free of charge, General Manager Dustin Anaas said.

"This community is entrenched with active servicemembers and military veterans who have given so much to our nation as well as the Brainerd Lakes Area," Anaas said. "We felt it was time for us to show our appreciation for the commitment these soldiers have made by opening our gates to them all season long."

The Lunkers will be honoring the United States Military all season long tarting with Opening Day on Wednesday, June 1, when the Lunkers take on the Alexandria Beetles at 7:05. Special Guest Camp Ripley Post Commander Col. St. Sauver will be on hand to throw out the first pitch. Also, the first 500 fans will receive an American Flag and their will be a post-game fireworks show sponsored by Mills Fleet Farm.

The Lunkers will also be honoring the military with their Military Mondays promotion taking place during every Monday home game during the 2011 Lunkers season. In conjunction with the Minnesota National Guard, the Lunkers will focus on how different facets of the United States Military function in the Brainerd Lakes Area.

To retrieve their tickets, all servicemembers current and former need to do will be to show proper identification at the Lunkers ticket booth prior to the game.
