Quad City Mallards News Release
MUSKEGON, Mich. - Matt Lundin made 34 saves and Matt Robertson, Michel Beausoleil and Mario Laroque provided a goal and an assist apiece as the Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, fell to the host Muskegon Lumberjacks 3-1 Saturday.
Robertson doubled what had been a 1-0 Muskegon lead by burying what proved to be the game winning goal from the doorstep at the 13 minute mark of the second period.
Each team was down a man when the Mallards cut the gap to 2-1 with Tyler Kindle's drive from the top of the left wing circle just over two and a half minutes later.
The Lumberjacks reestablished the two goal lead just 28 seconds into the third period when Beausoleil scored off a goalmouth scramble. The Mallards were never quite able to narrow the gap again.
Muskegon first grabbed the lead it never relinquished when Laroque swept the puck home from the left wing circle at 7:29 of the first period.
