
Lumberjacks to Hold Annual Open Tryout Camp

MUSKEGON, Michigan (May 19th) - The Muskegon Lumberjacks have announced the dates for their annual Open Tryout Camp which begins on Saturday, June 14th and goes until the evening of Monday, June 16th to kick off the weeklong camp process leading up to the final roster announcement and equipment fitting on Saturday, June 21st.
"We are extremely pleased with the direction that the Lumberjacks are heading towards as we prepare for the upcoming 2014-15 season and look forward to a spirited and competitive tryout camp," said Lumberjacks Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach Rich McKenna. "Players that try out have an opportunity to be a part of the rich hockey tradition of our organization, and we expect nothing but good character and hard work ethic. We take pride in developing the next future stars of the NCAA and, of course, the National Hockey League."
The Open Camp consists of a minimum of four extremely competitive on-ice scrimmages and an official Lumberjacks Camp jersey. Players that are participating in the Open Camp are advised by the organization to be in top physical condition to put yourself in the best possible position to make the 2014-15 Lumberjacks roster. Every participant is given an equal opportunity to make the Main Camp, which is held from Tuesday, June 17th through Friday, June 20th, and have the ability to showcase their skills and talents in front of numerous NCAA and NHL scouts.
In addition, players are instructed to supply enough sticks and tape to last the duration of camp along with a full set of equipment and responsible for their own hotel accommodations and meals.
Spots for the annual Open Tryout Camp are filling up fast, and players need to register by Friday, June 6th to be guaranteed a roster spot.
