Lowgators well represented in NBA Summer Leagues

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (July 11, 2003) â The North Charleston Lowgators have several former players playing in various professional summer leagues throughout the United States. Joining summer league teams allows athletes the opportunity to compete against experienced NBA stars as well as other hopeful talents trying to make it to the NBA.
The National Basketball Association hosts four different summer leagues in which many NBA teams participate. The Southern California Summer Pro League in Long Beach, the Pepsi Pro Summer League in Orlando, the Reebok Pro Summer League in Boston, and the Reebok Rocky Mountain Review in Salt Lake City are four opportunities for players to shine.
All NBA teams take part in either one or two summer leagues which each last approximately one to two weeks. The leagues help to provide instruction to draft picks and young free-agents while experienced players work on their skills throughout the off-season. The teams offer NBDL players a chance to showcase their talents with the hope of being picked up by an NBA team.
The Lowgators currently have eight former players participating in the pro leagues. Damone Brown, who spent time with the Toronto Raptors last season, is playing with the NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. "Participating in one of the summer leagues is a great opportunity. I just want to make the most of it," Brown said.
