October 27, 2003 - NBA G League (G League)
Charleston Lowgators News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (October 27) The North Charleston Lowgators of the National Basketball Development League have announced that two players with local ties have been allocated to the team for the 2003-04 season.
Swingman Chuck Eidson, the MVP of last year's University of South Carolina team, and guard Edward Scott, a First-team All-ACC selection from Clemson, will be invited to the Lowgators veterans' camp starting on November 8. Each NBDL team must keep one allocated player and two rookies on their 10-man roster.
Eidson, (6'7, 205 lbs.) from Summerville, S.C., starred at Pinewood Prep before emerging as a top player for the Gamecocks. As a senior last year, he averaged 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game. Eidson led USC in minutes, free-throw percentage, assists and steals.
"I am really excited to join the Lowgators. Playing in a familiar city in front of family and friends will be great, " Eidson said.
Edison played for the Orlando Magic's summer league team and then worked out with the Boston Celtics for two months. Despite being released by the Celtics before playing in any preseason games he enjoyed the experience.
"It was really helpful to play with that type of talent for two months," said Eidson. "I learned a lot about how the pro game is played."
Scott, (6'0, 175 lbs.) was the first Clemson point guard in the last 43 years to be a first-team selection. Last year as a senior, he averaged nearly 18 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds per contest. An Eastover, S.C. native, Scott led the Tigers in minutes, points and assists.
"I am a pass-first point guard," Scott stated. "It is important for me to setup my teammates but if I have to score, I can definitely put the ball in the hole."
The Lowgators will begin the 2003-2004 season with an exhibition game against the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison, Wisconsin on November 17. The regular season opens up at home on November 28 against the Roanoke Dazzle at 7:30 p.m.
Individual game tickets are $13.50 for adults, $10.00 for students (13 through valid college I.D.) and the military and $7.50 for kids 2 to 12 and seniors 62 and older. Tickets can be purchased at the Coliseum Box Office; by calling 1-800-4-NBA-TIX; by calling 460-1000 or by logging on to www.northcharlestonlowgators.com.
