Lowgators beat Dazzle 107-99

ROANOKE , Va , December 14, 2003 – The Roanoke Dazzle suffered their third loss of the season against the Charleston Lowgators, 107-99, Sunday afternoon at the Roanoke Civic Center. The Lowgators notched its second straight win to make their record 4-4.

The Dazzle had a strong first quarter that started off with an 11-0 run, but the Lowgators quickly rebounded making it a close first half. The Lowgators outscored the Dazzle 62-48 in the second half.

"Give our guys credit," said Lowgators Head Coach Doug Marty. "We showed a lot of desire and a great deal of character."

Jarod Gee shot 81 percent from the field and 80 percent from the line for 22 points. Ime Udoka added 20 points.

"Gee was the difference maker in tonight's game," Marty said. "Our other big guys got into foul trouble early and came in and shot the lights out."

All of the Dazzle big men were in foul trouble. Geoff Owens fouled out early in the fourth, Asselin grabbed his fifth in the third quarter, and George Williams picked up three straight fouls in the middle of the fourth.

Marque Perry led the Dazzle with 19 points and Mike King contributed 17.

The Dazzle falls to 5-3. They face the Asheville Altitude at the Roanoke Civic Center on Saturday December 20 at 7:00 PM.
