The Louisville Bats beat the Nashville Sounds 11-7 in spring training exhibition baseball on Saturday. The Bats won their third straight and improved to 4-1 with 2 ties so far this season.
Jimmy Haynes started for Louisville, going five innings, allowing five runs. Travis Thompson and Brian Mallette each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
Louisville was led offensively by Jason Larue who belted a first inning grand slam. Jim Chamblee and Gary Burnham had three RBI apiece for the Bats as well.
Louisville continues their 14-game spring training schedule Sunday as they take on the Ottawa Lynx, Triple-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles at the Ed Smith Complex in Sarasota.
