Louisville City FC News Release
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (March 6th, 2015) -- Louisville City FC, the new professional soccer team that will kick off its inaugural season campaign on March 28th at Louisville Slugger Field, announced the addition of forward Nathan Polak to its roster today. Polak brings three years of professional experience to Louisville City's offense.
"Nate has been in camp with us since last month and he's been impressive during this time," head coach James O'Connor said. "With his goal-scoring ability and his past accomplishments, we are confident Nate will make an immediate impact with the squad."
After being drafted by the New York Red Bulls in the 2012 Supplemental Draft Polak joined NASL side Minnesota United FC. While at Minnesota, the 6-foot-2 forward played in eight games and scored his first ever professional goal in the September 11th, 2012 match versus the Puerto Rico Islanders. In 2014 Polak joined OKC Energy on loan, playing in six games for the first-year USL club and was named Man of the Match in a game versus the Charleston Battery.
Prior to his professional career, the Lincoln, Nebraska product played one year of collegiate soccer at Drake University, but finished his career at Hastings College. It was his successful three years at Hastings that got the attention of MLS scouts, scoring 43 goals and tallying 33 assists. Twice while at Hastings, Polak participated in the NAIA National Championship, winning it his junior year, while finishing as runner-up his senior year. He was named NAIA National Player of the Week twice his senior year.
I am beyond excited for this next step in my career and look forward to helping Louisville City FC pursue a USL championship this season," Polak said. "Everything about the club has been amazing since my arrival and the talent of this group of players has made for some really fun soccer. Good things lie ahead as we continue to improve and gel every day."
The 25-year-old has already been training with the team and started against Indiana University in Tuesday night's friendly.
Season tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting www.LouisvilleCityFC.com or by calling 502-384-8799. Ticket packages include 15 matches - 14 USL PRO regular season home games and one additional fixture (friendlies, Open Cup matches, etc.).
