LouCity to Sport Breast Cancer Awareness Kits for a Cause

Louisville's professional soccer clubs are teaming up with the Baptist Health Foundation throughout October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month - by raising awareness of and funds toward fighting a disease that affects one in eight U.S. women.

First, LouCity will don special-edition breast cancer awareness kits for Saturday's game against Sporting KC II, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. at Lynn Family Stadium.

The club plans to later offer autographed, game-worn jerseys via online auction to benefit Women's Cancer Care at Baptist Health. Retail versions of the uniforms and matching scarves are available for pre-order at shop.LouCity.com with all proceeds going to Women's Cancer Care.

A Racing Louisville-branded breast cancer awareness T-shirt is in the works as well. Similarly, team-autographed editions will be up for auction this month and retail versions on sale soon to benefit the cause.

Baptist Health - LouCity and Racing's official sports medicine provider - provides a multitude of services through its Women's Cancer Care unit. Those include efforts in prevention and early detection along with the latest in treatment of all cancers affecting women.

Women's Cancer Care understands that cancer impacts the whole person, with funding helping to provide everything from support groups to therapy and assistance with wigs. The unit also funds an educational series - Cancer University - to assist patients and their families during the tumultuous time of diagnosis and treatment.
