February 2, 2024 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville City FC has agreed to loan forward Issac Cano to USL League One's Lexington SC for the 2024 season, it was announced Friday.
From Lexington, Cano will compete for his hometown team in what is his first year as a professional and Lexington SC's second season of play. Terms of the deal, which is pending league and federation approval, were not disclosed.
Cano signed his first pro contract last month, becoming the sixth LouCity Academy player to complete the path from the club's youth ranks. The 19-year-old spent the 2023 season on a USL Academy deal allowing him to train with and play for the first team while retaining amateur status.
Cano made his LouCity debut last summer when starting in a friendly against Mexican club Atlante FC. He had previously appeared in preseason play and continued to log minutes throughout the year in USL Academy League games.
Cano played his prep soccer at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, where as a senior he scored 34 of his team's 89 goals and won the 2021 state championship.
