LouCity Keeper Morton Claims Club's First Golden Glove Award

Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville City FC goalkeeper Kyle Morton finished the 2022 USL Championship season conceding at a rate of just 0.74 goals per game to earn the league's Golden Glove.
It's the first such honor for both LouCity and Morton, who was also a finalist for USL Championship Goalkeeper of the Year in 2019 and 2021. The 28-year-old signed with City this past winter after a season with Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo.
"It means a lot," Morton said. "I think a Golden Glove doesn't go to the best goalkeeper in the league but the best team defensively. There were multiple shutouts where I didn't have to make a save, and I think that just shows how good our team was this year. It's always nice to win an award, but the whole team should be proud."
The Golden Glove race came down to the season's final day. Morton didn't play in LouCity's 2-1 victory over Hartford Athletic to rest a muscle injury. He edged just ahead of Jordon Farr, whose San Antonio FC let in a pair of goals in a 2-2 draw with Orange County SC.
Morton registered 13 shutouts in 28 appearances, during which LouCity never conceded more than two goals. Those performances led the boys in purple to the top of the Eastern Conference, where they earned a No. 1 playoff seed and bye to the conference semifinal round on Oct. 29 at Lynn Family Stadium.
