Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville, KY - Saturday will be the second meeting of the season between Louisville City FC (7-3-5, 26 Points) and the Charlotte Independence (4-5-4. 16 Points). The Independence took the first meeting between the clubs back on May 2, thanks to a 65th minute goal from Patrick Slogic. The loss was Louisville's first in the club's history.
Louisville City has been on a tear in the last two weeks with nine goals over the span of two matches. Most recently City defeated the Richmond Kickers 3-0 in front of a record crowd of 8,254.
City got out in front early, when Matt Fondy played a cross off of his chest from Bryan Burke to take a 1-0 lead. Louisville didn't look back from there as Tarek Morad and Magnus Rasmussen added goal in the second half to give City their seventh win of the season.
Charlotte is coming off of a 2-1 loss to St. Louis last Saturday. They were forced to play from behind early when St. Louis scored in the sixth minute giving them a 1-0 lead that they took into the half. Charlotte bounced back in the second half and Daniel Jackson netted an equalizer in the 68th minute. However, St. Louis would regain the lead for good with a goal off of a rebound in the 89th minute of play.
Saturday's match is the last of City's four game home stand as they will head to Pittsburgh next weekend to face the Riverhounds. It will be the start of a three game road trip before returning home on August 5th to play FC Montreal.
