Lotz Recalled, Langhamer in NHL
February 17, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release
RAPID CITY, SD- The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes, announced yesterday that the Tucson Roadrunners have called up rookie goaltender Austin Lotz. Additionally, the NHL's Arizona Coyotes have recalled Marek Langhamer from the Tucson Roadrunners.
Lotz gets called up to Tucson after earning his first win with the Rush in Wichita on February 15th. The 6'0", 190-pound net-minder stopped 23 of 28 shots in the victory, and has now seen his record on the season improve to 3-6-2 in his time with the Rush and the Reading Royals, along with a 4.50 GAA and .852 SV%. Prior to playing professionally, Lotz enjoyed a stellar career in major-junior hockey with the WHL's Everett Silvertips and Medicine Hat Tigers.
Langhamer receives his first call-up to the NHL this season, and his third career NHL call-up in the last two years. Last night, the second-year pro was the back-up to Mike Smith as the Coyotes defeated the Los Angeles Kings by a 5-3 score on the road last night. The 6'3", 190-pound backstopper went 5-2-0 with the Rush in 7 games this season, and saw 12 games of action with the Roadrunners in which he registered a 4-5-1 record. Already the first from the Black Hills to make it to the top level of professional hockey, if Langhamer plays at any point with the Coyotes during his call-up, he will become the first player in Rapid City Rush history to play in an NHL game. Prior to beginning his pro career, the Moravska Trebova, Czech Republic native played for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL, and was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2012 NHL Draft (7th Rd-#184).
