
Los Angeles Sparks Hire Eli Horowitz as Director of PR & Communications

Los Angeles - The Los Angeles Sparks announced the hiring of Eli Horowitz as Director of Public Relations and Communications, effective immediately. In the role, Horowitz will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Sparks' public relations and communications department.
"Eli is going to be a great addition to the Sparks organization," said Sparks General Manager and Executive Vice President Penny Toler. "He has years of experience in the media and extensive knowledge of the WNBA and the Sparks. I look forward to working with him."
Horowitz comes to the Sparks after working as a credentialed member of the WNBA media the past two seasons. He most recently served as a national reporter for WNBAinsidr, where he was also in charge of business operations, marketing, communications, as well as hiring and overseeing a staff of editors and reporters.
Horowitz has extensive experience in basketball media and has published work for The New York Times, ESPN, SB Nation and Excelle Sports. In those roles, he covered the 2017 WNBA Finals and the 2016 WNBA Draft. He also covered business and technology for the Los Angeles Business Journal prior to accepting the role with the Sparks.
In addition to his experience in media, Horowitz served as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team at the California Institute of Technology during the 2017-2018 season, where he was responsible for team communications pertaining to recruiting and scheduling. Horowitz also has five years of experience as both a boys and girls head varsity basketball coach in Brooklyn, NY and Prince George's County, MD.
Horowitz earned his master's degree from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism in New York and has a bachelor's degree in economics from Vanderbilt University.
