Los Angeles Aftershock on track for "professional" 2005-2006 season

What happens when you implode the stars? New Los Angeles Aftershock owner Shawn Blattenberger says that when you implode a star, you get evolution, and that's the plan for the ABA franchise in Los Angeles after the "interesting" season last year for the LA areas version of the team here. Implode the old image, implode the old way of doing business, implode the old reputation, and implode the roster. Evolve, and ride the new Aftershock. Los Angeles basketball fans, get ready to be SHOCKED.
Head Basketball Coach Andre Smith has retooled the persona of the team, giving a new plan of preparation during the off-season and followed that up with a detailed scouting and recruiting plan for additional players. Local and national basketball knowledge has been heeded, and the business and work plan of last years successful ABA Teams were noted. Smith and the Aftershock have one plan in mind for 2005-2006. Win.
This past weekend at Los Angeles' Southwest College gymnasium, (the new proposed home for the Aftershock) 30 players gathered for two days of two-a-day sessions of condition measurement, basketball knowledge, competitiveness and sweat. This is not last years Los Angeles team by any stretch, as the group drilled and competed over the two days and set a new standard for the level of play and commitment for Coach Smith. ABA officials and referees on hand complimented the new image and commitment of the Aftershock, and praised the players for their effort, execution and commitment, while giving glowing praise to Blattenberger and Smith for the professionalism and organization of the camp.
The upgrade in facilities and the professionalism were obvious signs that the ABA itself in its new and needed improvement standards have a program and franchise that is striving to be the leagues best, which is a far cry from where it was last year. Broadcasting of games and improvement of roster talent also point to a better year of ABA basketball in Los Angeles this year. From the leadership of last years roster members to the enthusiasm and challenges from the newcomers, LA fans should feel extremely comfortable in having a competent, ethically run, well presented and well prepared team for its fans this season. The team plans to hold more tryouts in the upcoming months, plus have a presence at this summers league camps in California, Utah, and Las Vegas, especially the ABA Experience in Inglewood in August.
This years' version of the ABA and its Los Angeles Franchise took its first steps this past weekend. There will be more tryouts in the coming months to find the absolute best of available players in Southern California and across the nation. Coach Smith is imploring all players interested to get in top shape in order to be able to compete with the athletes in the end to end defending, end to end offensive pressure system he needs to use to win in the ABA.
