Lorain County Ironmen coaching staff to return in 2012

Lorain, OH-February 16-The Lorain County Ironmen featured a top 5 offense and a top 5 pitching staff in the Prospect League last season. This season they will look to build on that success with the return of the whole coaching staff for 2012. Joe Rhomberg will return as manager with Joe Charboneau, Ryan Hartzell and Steve Sunagel returning as assistants.
Rhomberg, who spent nine seasons in professional baseball as a player and coach for former Indians manager Doc Edwards, will once again manage the Ironmen. Rhomberg helped to guide the Ironmen to within one game of the Prospect League playoffs in just the franchises second season in the league.
1980 American League Rookie of the Year Joe Charboneau will return for his third season as hitting coach. "Super Joe" helped the Ironmen offense to finish as the #2 offense in the Prospect League last season with a team batting average of .289.
Ryan Hartzell is back for his second season as pitching coach. Hartzell, a collegiate All-American who pitched professionally, guided the #3 ranked pitching staff in the Prospect League in 2011. As a team the Ironmen finished with an ERA of 3.55 and allowed the fewest earned runs in the league.
Sunagel, a member of the Elyria Sports Hall of Fame, will be returning for his third season. He will once again serve as bench coach. In this role Sunagel has been instrumental working with the fielders. The Ironmen finished fifth in the league last year for fielding percentage.
The Ironmen open the season on May 29th in Richmond. The home opener will be Thursday May 31st at 7:05 against Slippery Rock. You can also follow the Ironmen on Facebook and Twitter.
