Great Lakes Loons News Release
Twelve fireworks shows, 10 Dollar Family Feast Night Tuesdays and Six Tigers' 1984 Championship Celebrations are amongst the highlights of the Great Lakes Loons' 2009 promotional calendar, released by the organization today.
"We have had two great seasons of affordable family entertainment with Loons baseball," said Loons Assistant General Manager for Marketing and Promotions Chris Mundhenk. "This year, we're offering more regular season fireworks shows, a celebration of the '84 Tigers' 25th anniversary and one-dollar concession items on Tuesdays, making the fan experience at Dow Diamond even better than ever!"
New for 2009 is Dollar Family Feast Nights, presented by Chemical Bank. Every Tuesday home game, Dow Diamond concession stands will offer hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches and 12 oz. Coke products for just one dollar.
Also new for this season is the Tigers' 1984 Championship Celebration, presented by MidMichigan Health, featuring six games honoring different members of the Tigers' World Championship squad. Pitchers Dan Petry (June 18), Milt Wilcox (July 29) and 1984 American League Cy Young award and MVP winner Willie Hernandez (August 29) are scheduled to appear at Dow Diamond and greet fans, while outfielder Kirk Gibson (May 27), pitcher Jack Morris (July 16) and outfielder Chet Lemon (August 10) will be honored with bobblehead giveaways. A Tigers' Championship Six-Game Mini Plan is available for $54 and includes a ticket to all six games honoring the '84 Tigers.
Returning in 2009 are the wildly popular fireworks nights, powered by Dow Corning. The first of 12 fireworks nights is opening night, Monday, April 13, which is also Magnet Schedule Giveaway Night, presented by Farm Bureau Insurance.
Farm Bureau Insurance will be the presenting sponsor of three Sunday Youth Baseball Clinics (May 10, May 31 and June 7), complete with baseball instruction from Loons' players. Farm Bureau also returns as the presenting sponsor of Kids Run the Bases, following every Sunday afternoon home game.
Several national entertainment acts will appear at the ballpark, including the Chicago Bulls' Bucket Boys (June 19), Jimmy Buffet impersonator Tom Watt (July 31), Dave the Horn Guy (August 7) and famed mascot Birdzerk! (August 12).
Other exciting promotional events and theme nights for 2009 include Polar Bear Club Night (April 15), College Night (April 16), five F.P.
