Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lookouts took two from the first-place Carolina Mudcats in Monday's double-header match-up at AT&T Field between the two teams. The series finale marked the eighth win for the Lookouts during their 10-game homestand.

The first game was the byproduct of Sunday's suspended game. As such, the game resumed at the fifth inning with the Lookouts ahead, 2-0. Chattanooga added to their lead immediately in the bottom of the fifth on a Sean Henry RBI single.

The Lookouts added another run in the seventh, when singles by Michael DeJesus and Michael Griffin led to a Sean Henry sac fly.

Carolina would finally enter the scoreboard in the eighth with three runs. Andrew Jenkins hit a two-RBI single to highlight the Mudcats' rally.

With Chattanooga clinging to a 4-3 lead, the Lookouts added two more runs in the bottom portion of the eighth. Michael DeJesus plated two runs on a double to give the Lookouts a 6-3 edge.

Josh Roenicke would relinquish a run in the bottom of the ninth, but would ultimately pick-up the first of two saves on the day.

Game two, a seven-inning affair, involved a pitchers' dual between Ben Jukich and Brett Sinkbeil with the Lookouts squeezing out a 1-0 win.

All the offensive output needed by the Lookouts was supplied in the first inning on a leadoff Shaun Cumberland homer.

Ben Jukich (1-1) pitched 6.2 with one strikeout, while surrendering six hits and four hits on the outing. Josh Roenicke would strikeout the final batter, Cameron Maybin, to preserve the 1-0 win for the Lookouts.

The Lookouts will hit the road on Wednesday to open a five-game series against the Mississippi Braves.
