MOBILE, Ala. - A windy day at Hank Aaron Stadium resulted in a pair of three-run homers for the Mississippi Braves, who defeated the BayBears, 8-2.

Starters Adam Howard (2-1) and Dustin Evans (1-4) dueled through the first three innings until the Braves (6-19) put a tally on the board in the fourth inning as Javier Guzman began the frame with a triple to right. He scored on a Jason Perry sac fly.

A half-inning later, Frank Curreri drove home Cesar Nicolas with a two-run blast to deep right field, handing the BayBears (12-13) a 2-1 lead. That would be the last hit recorded by the BayBears' offense as Mississippi took over the ballgame.

In the fifth, Mark Jurich led off with a single and took second after a walk to JC Boscan. Evans failed to move the runners over with his bunt, but that didn't matter as Matt Young homered to right-center, putting the Braves in front 4-2. An RBI double by Jurich made it 5-2 in the sixth while Quentin Davis finished the scoring with another three-run homer off Howard in the sixth inning.

The BayBears will have an off day tomorrow before beginning a 10-game road trip in Birmingham on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Brooks Brown (1-3, 2.77) will get the start for the BayBears, who return home on Saturday, May 10 to play the Jacksonville Suns at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call (251) 479-BEAR or log on to www.mobilebaybears.com.
